Our Beliefs

We celebrate unity in the essentials of the faith, liberty in the non-essentials, and charity (love) over all. Click to download our official doctrine statement. If you have any questions about other things, please ask one of the elders. If you find our doctrine statement is a bit hard to understand, we have created the following short story of what God has done to try and explain it a bit more. Please give it a read.

The following explains what we believe. It's all written in the Bible...

We believe in one awesome and almighty God who created all that is. He has never had a beginning nor an end. He will always was and always will be. He exists as one in essence, but three in persons. We believe in the unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead. He is absolute perfection. He is holy. He is awesome. He is all knowing, all powerful, and all present. He is completely, divinely, and meticulously in sovereign control over all that is, was, and will be. He is sovereign in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgement. All that He ever does is good, and absolutely everything and everyone exists for His glory. He will accomplish his purposes. There is none greater than He. He is God!

Our Awesome God has revealed Himself in his creation, having shown all of his amazing attributes to everyone in what has been made. He has made himself known so that all are without excuse- even those who would deny his very existence. God has also revealed himself at different times in various way; through many of his followers, through his prophets, and ultimately through His own Son the Lord Jesus Christ. God has also revealed Himself to us specifically in the Bible- His Word written down through his apostles & prophets. We believe in the divine inspiration and infallibility of Holy Scriptures (the Bible) as originally given. Scripture alone is our supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. Our truth epicenter is not man's opinion, church tradition, or anything else. Jesus Christ is our authority-- as revealed in the Holy Scriptures. His Word is truth, because He is the truth.

We believe God created humankind (Adam & Eve as the first) in his own image and likeness. From these two, all humans have descended. The world God made was perfect, but the first humans did not continue to worship God. They sinned- they broke God's Holy law. This was known as 'the fall' and its consequences are devestating. We are living with the consequences of this sin today. All of us have inherited their sin nature like our first ancestors we have ourselves rebelled. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Mankind continues to rebel and break God's law today; sin is the reason the world is in the state it is. Our sin is what brings calamity, disease, suffering, and ultimately death and judgment. Only by God's grace do we experience anything good at all. We don't believe man is morally good and just in need of better education. We believe in the universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall, rendering man subject to God's wrath and condemnation. We believe that God's holiness and justice demand sin to be punished. The just punishment for mankind's sin is to experience God's wrath for all eternity in hell- a place of conscious, eternal torment. This is horrific news.

His Life

The good news (the Gospel) is that God did not deal with us as our sins deserve. God provided a way for sinners to be forgiven, and his just wrath to be appeased. God's justice demanded a perfect sacrifice to atone for mankind's sin, yet none on earth existed. So God, who is amazingly loving, sent his own Son to be the saviour of the world. God became flesh and dwelt among us. We believe in the full deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God; his virgin birth and his real and sinless humanity.

His Death-

God demonstrated his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Jesus willingly laid down his life for his own. We believe in Jesus' death on the cross, his bodily resurrection and his present reign in heaven and earth. God made Jesus, who had no sin, to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the rightousness of God. Jesus became our substitute, took the punishment of all those who repent and believe the Gospel. God so loved the world that He gave his only Son so that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

His Resurrection & Return-

On the third day after his death, Jesus powerfully rose again defeating death and proving that He indeed is the Son of God. Jesus ascended into heaven from where he will once day return to judge all mankind. We believe in the future personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge all men, executing God's just condemnation on the impenitent and receiving the redeemed to eternal glory. We believe in the redemption of sinners from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death once and for all time of our representative and substitute, Jesus Christ, the only mediator between God and man.

So How is a person saved from sin & judgment? How does a person respond to this amazing work that Jesus has done for sinners? How is this redemption applied? By repentance and faith. We believe in the need for the Holy Spirit to make the work of Christ effective to the individual sinner, granting him repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ. When the happens, the sinner is "saved" or "justified." Justification is God's act of undeserved mercy, in which the sinner is pardoned all his sins, and accepted as righteous in God's sight, only because of the righteousness of Christ imputed to him, this justification being received by faith alone. We believe it is the duty of all people everywhere to repent and trust Christ and Lord. Jesus himself said, "Come to me all who are weary and I wll give you rest" and again, "Anyone who comes to me I will never turn aside." If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

We believe that when a person trusts Jesus, they are sealed with the promised Holy Spirit who is the deposit guaranteeing their inheritance to come. We believe in the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in all those thus regenerated, producing in them an increasing likeness to Christ in character and behaviour, and empowering them for their witness in the world. God begins a good work in all believers, and will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. These believers are now part of the family of God known as the church. We believe in one holy universal church, which is the body of Christ, and to which all true believers belong.
